Lifeform Three

coverLF3

Lifeform Three, my second novel, is a fable in the tradition of Ray Bradbury and Margaret Atwood.

Lifeform Three is my love letter to my first horse, who is now no longer with us. I would ride him in the forest and wonder who came here before me, and whether anyone would do this in the future. Would anyone ride horses or will we just live in our phones? Lifeform Three is about the last remaining piece of countryside, with a ruined country house, which is kept as a theme park so that people can see what the past was like. The narrator is Paftoo, a groundsman whose mind is regularly wiped to keep him productive – so there’s a lot about AI and algorithms and how they’re subtly in charge of us all. One night, Paftoo starts having dreams about riding a horse, which begins a quest for all the things he has forgotten.
